What is design?
What is design all about? Moving things around on the page, in space; and those dots. Symmetry of course is what the standard expectation is all about, finding a balance on either side; that exactly measured distance from borders to text and image.
Economy of line, space and copy, saying what you want to say as laconically as possible. “A picture tells a thousand words,” and all that stuff. The right brain hemisphere processing whole pattern recognition.
Great design for me is also about capturing attention and desire. Using colour and contrast to break through the ennui of indifference of a very bored world. Overfed and self satisfied with a technicolour vista of gadgets with screens opening upon every visual orifice.
Design can be the shocking absence of noise and the elevation of space to a graceful state of near nirvana.
